Educational service

Federal Custody Guide provides general educational information and tools concerning federal custody. It is not a law firm, does not provide legal representation, and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

No government affiliation

The service is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons or another government agency. BOP information should be confirmed against official government sources.

No guarantee of dates or outcomes

Custody status, projected release dates, First Step Act credits, prerelease placement, home confinement, and similar matters can change and may depend on individual facts and official calculations. Calculator or explanatory results are estimates or educational information, not guarantees of release, placement, eligibility, or legal outcome.

Appropriate use

Do not misuse the service to harass, impersonate, threaten, unlawfully monitor, or interfere with another person or with government systems. Automated or excessive requests that disrupt the service may be limited.

Third-party sources

The service may link to or retrieve information from government and other third-party sources. Those sources control their own content, availability, and policies.

Alerts

New alert enrollment is temporarily paused. If alerts are relaunched, the applicable enrollment, verification, cancellation, privacy, and delivery terms will be presented before activation.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the service changes. Material changes should be reflected by an updated effective date and appropriate notice.
